\nWe were touring the southern region of the country and had to cross the rapids of the Rufiji River, Tanzania’s longest river, before heading down to its remarkable mangrove within the delta.<\/p>\n
A minute later, Saint Peter sees six men arrive in the same state as the guide he has just led into Heaven. \n<\/a>While crossing a liana bridge over the river, a gust of wind sent us tumbling into the void. We all managed to grab hold of the ropes somehow. We were left hanging in mid-air, and then the bridge threatened to give way under our combined weight. Someone had to make the sacrifice.
\nAs I was the guide responsible for the group, it was my duty to let go first. I fell and was swept away by the rapids against the rocks…”<\/p>\n
\n“Yes,” they reply.
\n“But then, your guide who sacrificed himself for you \u2014 did he do all that for nothing?” asks Saint Peter.
