Perched on the walls of the ancient caldera, Ngorongoro Crater Lodge overlooks this cavity teeming with life.
From the outside, the ochre-toned huts blend into the landscape. Inside, it’s all the splendor of a distinctly Victorian-inspired décor: parquet floors covered with precious rugs from Iran, Venetian chandeliers, English antiques and Louis XV armchairs, four-poster beds richly draped in moiré fabrics, and leather club chairs classically framing the fireplace.

Layout

The 30 suites of &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge are spread across 3 camps to preserve the privacy of lodge guests.
The restaurant had to live up to its setting: a wooden deck, as if suspended above the Ngorongoro Crater. A boutique, a wine cellar and numerous campfires round out the experience.

For your children

Children are welcome at &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. They can take part in the WILDchild programme, designed to introduce young travellers to Africa in a fun and engaging way. Activities include wood carving workshops, tree planting in the lodge's nursery, beadwork with Maasai women, cooking workshops with the lodge chef (cupcake making), football...

Rooms

The lodge offers 30 beautiful rooms split across 3 camps. North Camp has 12 suites, as does South Camp. Tree Camp, the last of the three, has just 6 rooms.
All the stone rooms include a private bathroom with bathtub, a terrace and a fireplace. They all have Wi-Fi and views over the surrounding area.
The spacious family suite consists of two suites connected by a small private passage, with two bathrooms, and can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children.

Activities offered

4x4 safaris in Ngorongoro Crater are, unsurprisingly, the lodge's flagship activity.
But it also offers 3 walking safari routes of varying length (from 2 hours to a full day), a day at Olduvai Gorge and dinners in the crater, as well as walks around the lodge.
