Nestled in an acacia forest home to numerous elephants, Old Mondoro Camp sits on the banks of the Zambezi, within Lower Zambezi National Park, 10 km from the Jeki airstrip. The camp belongs to the same family that also runs Chiawa Camp, located 35 km from Old Mondoro. Perfect for a more rustic, “bush” adventure than Chiawa Camp, it offers an equivalent level of service. Mondoro means lion in Shona — an old white lion once roamed this territory. It is a remote, striking spot facing a herd of hippos living on a Zambezi island. Old Mondoro's concept is centred on the bush: simple, authentic comfort in a remote area. Built from natural materials, without electricity, you'll appreciate the soft glow of solar-powered lanterns — a true osmosis with nature! The camp has just 4 tents, raised on platforms and equipped with a king-size bed under a mosquito net and a full bathroom. Showers are supplied by canvas bags filled with hot water on request. A private deck also lets you relax while taking in the striking view.
