Kalahari
Decorated in an ethno-chic style, the Motse at Tswalu is a highly luxurious lodge with nine individual air-conditioned villas, all renovated in 2019, offering a spectacular view over the Kalahari plains.
An independent 5-bedroom villa with a private pool, Villa Tarkuni, can accommodate a large family or group of friends.
The main lodge also features a heated outdoor pool with its lovely observation deck, a spa and a fitness room.
From the moment they arrive, your children will be welcomed with a backpack filled with guides, gadgets and tools to use during their safaris: this marks the start of the Tswalu Junior Ranger programme, an experience that is both interactive and educational.
A walking safari during which young guests track animal signs, try their hand at archery, accompanied or not by their parents, or picnic out in the bush, is an experience they will long remember. Staff help children choose the activities they want to do, which are tailored to different age groups.
Children’s menus are also available at the lodge restaurant.
Beneath a thatched roof, the stone-walled Motse houses nine suites (doubles and one family suite) with warm tones and a cosy feel, all built facing waterholes.
Built between two mountain ranges, set apart from the lodge, Tarkuni villa is a large 5-bedroom house with an intimate atmosphere. A prime spot to recharge with family or friends, at the heart of the bush.
Decorated and furnished with comfort and elegance in mind, this villa can accommodate up to 10 people across its 5 spacious suites, each with its own bathroom. The communal areas include a dining room, a library and a vast lounge opening onto a covered terrace. Outside, you can enjoy a swim in the private pool while taking in the surrounding landscape.
To ensure your stay is one of complete ease, the house has its own dedicated staff, including a butler and a private chef, who will tailor meals to your preferences.
Staying at Tarkuni also means enjoying a tailor-made safari experience, with a private vehicle, guide and tracker entirely dedicated to your service.
The spa offers a welcome lounge, two beautiful treatment rooms with sensory showers, and a private garden.
True to Tswalu's philosophy, the Spa is built from natural materials, with reed ceilings and dry-stone walls in the indoor and outdoor showers.
The soothing colours create a sensory haven of peace in the Kalahari.
Tswalu offers horseback, walking and 4x4 safaris, where you may see meerkats, white and black rhinoceros, black-maned Kalahari lions, caracals, leopards or cheetahs.
Tswalu offers a genuine return to nature, with the chance to sleep under the stars at Malori, an exceptionally comfortable sleep-out, view the Milky Way through a telescope, take part in conservation initiatives, dine in the lodge's boma beneath the African sky, experience meditation in the silence of the red dunes, explore local bushman archaeological sites, visit the Tswalu village (clinic, school, and more), and much more.
A fine African adventure for families, friends or couples.
