The lodge is a simple pleasure to experience. It comprises 8 rooms, a common area for relaxing and a dining room for shared meals. The lodge is surrounded by wooden decks, an ideal spot to sit back and take in the view.
Due to the nature of bear watching and the lodge experience, the recommended minimum age for children is 15.
The eight rooms have been recently renovated. All have a double bed and a private shower room, a view over the water, and comfortable bathrobes.
The lodge's rooms have neither phone nor TV, for total immersion in nature.
The lodge experience revolves entirely around the bears, and all guests enjoy two guided viewing sessions each day, conducted from observation platforms reached on foot or by boat navigating the nearby estuaries (depending on the season). Viewing typically takes place in the early morning and late afternoon, when the bears tend to be most active.
Between the morning and afternoon viewing sessions, guided activities are on offer: sea kayaking, boat cruises, or walks through the primary rainforest. These walks are an opportunity to learn more about the region's ecology and to look for signs of bears. They're also a chance to see other animals, including wolves, otters, black bears, mink and bald eagles.
In the evening, attend an audiovisual presentation on grizzly bears and their local ecosystem.
The lodge is open from May to October. Daily activities are subject to weather conditions and water levels.
