Rarely visited due to its difficult access and lack of permanent inhabitants, Rubondo Island is nonetheless teeming with African wildlife and vegetation. Venturing into the tropical forest to encounter monkeys, observing the forty or so orchid species that grow undisturbed here, or taking kayak trips along the island's shores in hopes of spotting the rare sitatunga antelope, capable of feeding underwater, are all ways to soak up the atmosphere of a tropical African island. Watch out for crocodiles, though!
