À vivre

Whether in Iceland, Lapland, the Canadian far north, Greenland or Svalbard, throughout the region encircling the Earth's magnetic poles, it is not uncommon to see the sky ablaze once night falls. Mythical, almost mystical, the northern lights never cease to fascinate. Watching them, the Ancients believed they saw dragons in the sky; the phenomenon has lost none of its mystique today. Looking up at the right moment, you'll see shades of green, yellow, magenta and blue, in draped, arched, cloud-like or linear forms.

Here, the northern lights can appear as soon as the night sky returns. This means you can often observe them even before the first snowfall. Winter lasts several months, offering no shortage of opportunities to admire this natural phenomenon. Shed your warm clothing and slip into an outdoor spa to watch the coloured reflections of the aurora. Curl up behind the window of a cosy chalet, or settle into a welcoming lodge offering full service: meals, equipment, activities. You can also travel by snowmobile or dog sled into the wilderness, where you can watch the celestial display by the warmth of a crackling campfire.
