Glen Helen Gorge lies not far from Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory. It sits in the western part of the West MacDonnell Ranges, on the banks of the Finke River, an area rich in aquatic wildlife and migratory waterbirds. Like many similar sites in the region, it is a place of deep spiritual significance for Aboriginal people, a sacred site.
