Sri Lanka
Kalpitiya
There are two types of accommodation here: two spacious 2-bedroom villas and seven large cabins with a separate living room.
The property includes 2 restaurants with a bohemian style, as well as an outdoor pool overlooking the sea.
Children are welcome.
With earthen walls, the simple thatched-roof cabins feature handmade decoration made with coconut palm leaves. They also include free Wi-Fi access and an open-air bathroom set in an enclosed garden. The 2 villas consist of 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed. They have a rain shower and a private veranda. Mosquito nets are provided, and room service is available.
Please note, there is no air conditioning (a ceiling fan is provided) or hot water in the rooms, but a shower is available at the spa. This is part of the lodge's “eco-friendly” approach.
The coastal waters here offer a wide range of activities. The kitesurfing school is open from May to October; outside these months (November to April), conditions are ideal for dolphin and whale watching, though outside this season you'll be informed if any are spotted. You can also go fishing, diving, snorkelling and cycling, as well as windsurfing, sailing and canoe-kayaking from the Alankuda Beach Club. Boat trips and donut rides can also be booked.
