In addition to its 140 rooms, the Arakur has a lounge with large picture windows, a restaurant (“La Cravia”) serving dishes typical of Tierra del Fuego with spectacular views over the town of Ushuaia and its surroundings, a piano bar, a bar set within the resort's pool, a business centre and a fitness centre.
The resort's standout feature, however, lies in its pools and basins fitted with water jets and whirlpools, also overlooking the town below, with water drawn from rainfall and melting glaciers.
Rooms
Arakur has 111 “Double Superior” rooms (35–37 m²), 66 facing south and 45 facing north, 20 “Twin Deluxe” rooms (also 37 m²) facing south, 6 “Triple” rooms (40–49 m²) facing north and 3 south-facing “Senior Suites”.
In the “Twin Deluxe” rooms, two double beds can be used to accommodate a family of 4. The “Triple” rooms can be arranged with three double beds or one king-size bed and one double bed. The “Senior Suites” feature 2 comfortable rooms comprising a lounge and a bedroom.
All rooms offer sweeping panoramic views: those facing north overlook the Andorra Valley, the surrounding mountains and the Cerro Alarkén nature reserve, while those facing south look out over the Beagle Channel, the town of Ushuaia and its bay.
All have a contemporary design and are equipped with modern, comfortable technology, including a large partitioned bathroom lit by natural light, a television, a smart heating system and geothermal air conditioning.
Activities offered
The range of excursions (guided or independent) from the Arakur is extensive: right from the hotel's doorstep, numerous trails lead into the Cerro Alarkén nature reserve and its wildlife, along the banks of the Arroyo Grande river, to the Río Chico waterfalls and their beaver lodges, to the summit of Cortés Hill, or to the Andorra Valley, the Vinciguerra glacier and its iceberg lagoon. Every direction offers an intense encounter with nature.
For the more active, the fitness centre or a day's skiing at the Cerro Castor resort (with exclusive access to the Arakur Ski Lounge) are also available.
Below the resort, the town of Ushuaia is well worth exploring. Nearby, you'll also find the town's golf club, Tierra del Fuego National Park, the town's bay (open to sailing) and the End of the World Train.
