Le Caire
This unusual hotel consists of the Palace section, the historic wing that once hosted numerous prestigious figures: Richard Nixon, King Farouk, Agatha Christie, Charlie Chaplin, and Winston Churchill, among others... and the Garden section, the considerably more modern annex.
The Marriott Mena House comprises 331 luxurious rooms and suites, offering numerous views of the pyramids, the sumptuous gardens or the pool, four restaurants serving Italian and international cuisine, as well as lounges in which to relax.
139 is the hotel's main restaurant, offering international specialties from the Middle East, Asia and Europe. It also features a lounge bar and a terrace facing the gardens and the pyramids. Also wonderfully situated, Khan El Khalili showcases Egyptian and broader Oriental specialties. A top address for Indian gastronomy, the Moghul Room is worth a visit for its refined décor and flavourful traditional cuisine. Open for lunch and until sunset, Alfredo sits not far from the pool and offers delicious homemade Italian specialties. Finally, Sultan Lounge is a favourite spot to settle in, sip a cocktail and take in the view... still as striking as ever!
The Marriott Mena House comprises 522 rooms and suites split between the Garden and Palace wings. As the Palace wing is currently under renovation, only rooms in the Garden wing are available.
While the building itself doesn't carry the charm of the historic structure, the views over the gardens and pool, the palace, and above all the pyramids, remain unforgettable. The 425 rooms in the Garden wing are divided into Deluxe Garden View and Premier Pyramid View categories (views here are more lateral than from the Palace wing). Recently renovated, the rooms are comfortable and bright, decorated in a classic style, and all feature a large balcony.
The wellness area includes a welcoming reception, a fitness centre, six massage rooms, a beauty salon and a relaxation room. Everything is in place for a pure moment of relaxation.
Amid lush gardens, the vast pool at the Marriott Mena House (heated in winter) offers the finest of settings. The former 9-hole golf course is being transformed and will become, by mid-2018, an exceptional 18-hole course at the foot of one of the Seven Wonders of the World. For relaxation, a small spa offers a few treatment rooms and a fitness area.
Accompanied by a French-speaking guide, set off to discover Cairo, the pyramids and the Sphinx of course, but also Memphis and Saqqara, the museum and the mummy room, its old quarters and its extraordinary bazaars.
