Perched above the bush, Thabametsi Treehouse offers sweeping views over the wildlife below, where every rustle of leaves and every distant call becomes part of nature's melody. Antelopes pass by just steps away, leopards watch from the shadows, and the African sky fills with millions of stars at sunset.
The Treehouse experience is booked alongside accommodation at Marataba Safari Lodge or Marataba Mountain Lodge, at a supplement per person per night.
Your room remains ready for your return at any time, should you wish it.
You take only the essentials, leaving the rest of your belongings safely at the lodge.
Solidly raised above the ground, Thabametsi Treehouse is solar-powered and built over two levels, with a bedroom, a full bathroom, and living and dining areas. It is entirely safe, comfortable, and inaccessible to wildlife.
As for dining, dinner is served outdoors, picnic-style, lit by lanterns. At sunset, the atmosphere is like no other.
The ranger gives you a full briefing and remains reachable by radio throughout the night, until he returns the following morning after sunrise and coffee.
Looking out over the bush from your refuge, you will see animals going about their business undisturbed by your presence — from antelope passing close by, to a leopard stalking its prey! As night falls, the sounds of nature carry through the cool air, and you will drift off to an African lullaby made up of chirping, distant grunts and the rustle of the breeze through the leaves.
On clear nights, millions of stars are visible. To help you identify constellations, planets and even passing satellites, a stargazing app will be made available to you.
