A fusion of several musical genres, salsa has become one of Cuba's most popular dance music styles. Although it was born between Puerto Rico and New York, its roots lie in Cuban rhythms, primarily Son, but also Cha-cha-chá and Mambo. Danced as a couple, once the basic step is mastered, it allows for endless variations limited only by the leader's imagination.
