In the afternoon, free time to relax, with the chance to swim in the crystal-clear waters off the white sand beaches of Alter do Chao. (Passengers on the 5-day cruise disembark here, while those on the 6-day cruise embark). Sail into the blue waters of the Tapajos and watch the sunset over Lake Anuma, near the village of Vista Alegre. In the evening, meet representatives of the Vista Alegre community council, a small caboclo community settled within the Tapajoara reserve, and watch traditional dances on the village square. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 2: Set off on an “expedition” into the heart of the Tapajoara Reserve, a protected territory. Discover the daily life of the caboclos: preparing manioc flour, the staple of the local diet, tapping latex from rubber trees with the “seringueiros”, gathering medicinal plants... Walk through the forest and observe the wildlife and flora while paddling a canoa (dugout canoe) down an igarapé, a small river winding through the forest. Return to the boat for lunch. Sail toward Amorin to relax on the beaches. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 3: In the morning, choose between heading upriver to Cabecera do Amorim or exploring the village of Surucua. Visit riverside communities and take a short forest walk. Lunch on board. Early afternoon, beach time and relaxation. Late afternoon, sail toward Lake Braganca, following in the footsteps of the Langsdorff expedition, close to one of the Munduruku villages. Their descendants, committed to preserving and sharing their traditions, have reoccupied the site and welcome small groups of visitors as part of ecotourism programmes. Dinner and overnight on board. Night canoe outing under the stars to spot caimans.
Day 4: In the morning, visit a caboclo village in Marituba and discover daily life there. Lunch on board. In the afternoon, sail toward Maguari, a community settled on the banks of the Tapajos National Forest. Bird watching at Jamaraqua, a small community near Maguari. Dinner and overnight on board. Day 5: In the morning, walk through primary forest with native guides from the Maguari community, in search of giant rubber trees. Spot birds and blue butterflies. Lunch on board.
