One-day trek from Patabamba to Huchuy Qosqo, private service with French-speaking guide
Early morning departure for Patabamba, the starting point of the 10 km hike (approximately 4h30 to 5h30 of walking). This fine off-the-beaten-track trek leads to the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo (3,650 metres). The walk begins amid a landscape typical of the Andes, through a valley where maize, potatoes and other Andean crops are grown. You will climb to a pass at nearly 4,090 metres. The view over the snow-capped peaks of the Vilcanota mountain range is spectacular. The trail then joins a remarkably well-preserved Inca path, descending into the Sacred Valley. The vertiginous trail leads to the forgotten site of Huchuy Qozqo, where you will picnic (box lunch included) before visiting.
Rarely visited due to their isolation, these terraced ruins form an archaeological site with a primarily ceremonial purpose. The stone structures reveal technologies advanced for their time. After visiting the site, you will continue along the Inca trail on a steep, vertiginous descent down to Lamay.
A French-speaking mountain guide accompanies you throughout the excursion
