La maison « Framtíðin », construite à Djúpivogur en 1905-1906, a d’abord accueilli plusieurs commerces avant de servir de bureau de poste pendant une dizaine d’années. En 1963, elle a été achetée par la coopérative de Berufjörður, rénovée et transformée en hôtel. Depuis 1987, l’établissement est géré par la même famille sous le nom de « Hótel Framtíð », aujourd’hui dirigé par Þórir Stefánsson, fils de l’un des propriétaires historiques.
