Hwange
Somalisa Expeditions has 6 safari tents nestled beneath the trees, each facing a waterhole. Common areas include an open-air lounge, a small library and a welcoming dining room. Meals are often taken outdoors, weather permitting.
The decor evokes the colonial era and the old tribes of Africa, telling the story of every corner of this magnificent continent.
A plunge pool faces the savannah, ideal for watching elephants come to drink.
This blend of old Africa charm and elegance offers a unique safari experience.
From Hwange Main Camp, it takes about 1.5 hours to reach the camp.
Children are accepted from age 12.
The six tents are spacious, decorated in a clean, understated bush style. Comfortable beds, wood-burning stove, open-plan bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower. Private terraces for taking in the landscape.
There is only one category, but each tent offers great privacy. The layout favours natural light, views and quiet.
Located within a private concession in Hwange National Park, you can expect flexibility across all activities, including walking safaris, day and night 4x4 safaris, and close wildlife observation from a hide.
Species you can expect to see include elephants, kudus, wildebeest, sable antelopes, zebras, gemsbok, the rare roan antelope, buffalo, giraffes, white rhinos, lions, leopards, hyenas, and many others. During the rainy season, Kennedy Vlei is strewn with brightly coloured wildflowers that emerge with the first rains, and is home to abundant herds of buffalo, zebra, and elephant as the grass begins to dry out.
