At Torfhús Retreat, you will find a team passionate about offering guests the best possible Icelandic experience. From architecture and cuisine to activities and events, the owners have built a proud heritage around the best of unpretentious modern luxury.
Rooms
Each “Torfhús”, covering 60 m2, has two bedrooms and a luxurious bathroom with shower, toilet and branded toiletries. The décor, featuring local oak, rustic-painted walls and handmade furniture, creates a warm, welcoming chalet-style interior. Staying in a historic Torfhús is a unique experience, harking back a century while offering twenty-first-century comforts. The Torfhús is ideal for families, as it can accommodate up to four people.
These rooms also include a spacious living room with sofa, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, a private veranda and a private geothermally heated basalt-stone pool. You'll also find high-speed Wi-Fi, a safe, a Nespresso coffee machine, herbal teas, a minibar restocked daily and a UHD-screen television.
Activities offered
The varied landscapes of the Golden Circle, the Highlands and the South Coast are easily accessible from Torfhús Retreat. A wide range of excursions is on offer, from mountain hiking to helicopter tours, by way of geysers, glaciers and thundering waterfalls. Walk along the black-sand beaches of the south coast, snorkel between tectonic plates, or visit an 8,000-year-old lava cave to see its colourful volcanic walls.
