Nordbotten
Every meal is a celebration of Lapland's nature. Prepared by a private chef (often Jørgen, the second co-owner), the menus vary according to the season, the day's produce and the mood of the moment. Smoked meats, freshwater fish, root vegetables, arctic berries: everything is cooked with simplicity and finesse, and served in the warm intimacy of the lodge. There's no dining room here, but a table set facing the fire or the forest.
The service is attentive and discreet, giving the impression of a home-cooked meal - in its elevated form.
We recommend the lodge for children from age 6.
The main lodge is a former logger's cabin, carefully restored. The solid wood structure retains its rustic soul while incorporating the hallmarks of understated luxury. At the heart of the space stands a fireplace with glass on every side, radiating an enveloping warmth and becoming the focal point of the stay. The Nordic furniture, clean-lined yet elegant, converses with natural materials: wool, reindeer hides, brushed wood. Large picture windows bring the forest into every corner. The whole evokes the sophisticated simplicity of Scandinavian design, where luxury flourishes through restraint and attention to every detail. Eric, the co-owner, is a perfectionist — and it shows!
A separate pavilion, resolutely contemporary in style, can accommodate two additional guests in complete independence.
In a clearing lined with pines stands an elegant glass-walled sauna and a luxurious, particularly spacious outdoor hot tub. The sauna ritual becomes a moment of reconnection with oneself, extended by a bath in the steaming water under the stars - or the northern lights, when the sky allows it.
Winter invites muffled adventures: dog-sledding through snow-laden forests, snowshoeing, snowmobiling across frozen lakes, or watching the northern lights from the doorstep. The experience is marked by low, raking light, the crunch of snow underfoot, and the comfort of returning indoors to warmth.
Summer and autumn reveal a Lapland ablaze with colour and scent. The lodge becomes a starting point for hikes on foot, canoe trips on the calm waters of the river, or open-air dinners on a wooden deck.
Each season offers a distinct atmosphere, yet always true to the essence of the place: nature as the sole spectacle, and time as the ultimate luxury.
