Zambia is considered the birthplace of walking safaris, and with its handful of remote bush camps in the westernmost part of South Luangwa National Park, Bush Camp Company offers a memorable experience.
Far removed from the other camps and lodges set along the Luangwa River, these very low-capacity bush camps can host no more than eight guests — an arrangement that further heightens the sense of exclusivity.
Walking safaris are organised at dawn and again in the late afternoon through sunset, departing directly from camp or after a short 4x4 transfer to a more favourable area. Each safari typically lasts between 2 and 3 hours, timed to the most productive hours of the day for wildlife viewing.
Midday is spent at camp (most of them set on the river), resting and watching the wildlife that often passes right in front of your private deck or the communal area.
