Day 1 - Longyearbyen
Boarding at 5:00 pm and welcome aboard Polarfront.
Discover the ship and your living spaces over a welcome cocktail.
Departure at 6:00 pm.
Days 2 to 9 - Krossfjord (Cross Bay)
Cross Bay offers a magnificent condensed version of Spitsbergen: glaciers calving into the sea (notably the majestic 7-kilometre-long Lillihook ice front, and the 14th of July Glacier), tundra, and historical sites.
Kongsfjorden (King's Bay)
King's Bay was the starting point for numerous attempts at polar conquest. Beyond its rich historical past, the landscapes here are magnificent: fjords crowded with icebergs and shores covered in tundra. You will hike to striking viewpoints.
Magdalenefjorden (Magdalena Bay)
Magdalena Bay owes its name to the patron saint of whalers. This 10-kilometre-long fjord, surrounded by alpine peaks, was indeed an excellent shelter for the whalers who flocked here in the 17th century. Today, the shores are dotted with remains attesting to the rich history of Spitsbergen. Magdalena Bay will be the starting point for a hike toward the large glacier.
Smeerenburgfjord (Blubber Fjord)
Smeerenburgfjord is known for the role it played in the history of Spitsbergen. A whaling station was established here in 1616 before being abandoned in 1660. Steep and almost inhospitable, the fjord's shores are covered in ice, preventing vegetation from developing but revealing spectacular landscapes.
Pack ice
Polarfront will sail through the ice, heading North and East, in search of pack ice and wildlife.
Prince Charles Foreland
Prince Charles Foreland, located at the western edge of Svalbard, is a resting haven for walruses, who come to rest beneath the various peaks that make up the island.
Day 10 - Longyearbyen
This is where this fine adventure comes to an end.
Disembarkation takes place at 9:00 am after breakfast.
