Sri Lanka
Horton Plains
The camp offers an exclusive, private trekking and wilderness-living experience unlike anything previously available in Sri Lanka.
Ahaspokuna offers a private space of around 10,000 square metres, likely the largest of its kind in any camp, lodge, hotel or other type of accommodation in Sri Lanka.
Within this expansive space, you will find a luxurious lounge with numerous comfortable, private corners for reading, relaxing, meditating and practicing yoga. But what sets it apart even further from any other accommodation in Sri Lanka is the private star bed and bush bathtub that accompany each living space.
Ahaspokuna is the only accommodation in the country with no vehicle-accessible road, which helps preserve the wildlife, the environment – and you too. You are welcomed at a pre-arranged point and led on a short 20-minute trek to your new home in the wild. All your luggage is taken care of by the lodge’s helpful staff.
Your suite comprises an arrival terrace with a lounge area, a bedroom within a sleeping tent, a lounge with a washbasin and poufs, a tent with a flush toilet, an indoor shower with hot and cold water, a romantic star bed or a day bed for relaxing or sleeping by day or night, and Sri Lanka's very first bush bathtub, overlooking the grassland across 1,000 square metres of private space enclosed by an elephant fence. There are numerous private spaces within these boundaries for reading, relaxing, meditating or practising yoga. For guests wishing to take part in guided meditation or yoga sessions, specialist instructors can be arranged during your stay. While relaxing in your private sanctuary, be sure to take in the magnificent views of the grasslands and mountains from your tented suite. *Ahaspokuna has only 3 tented suites available for guests.
Whether you're after a short, easy trail, a moderate half-day hike, or an adventurous full-day trek, Ahaspokuna has it all.
Trails forged by elephants lead through striking landscapes, mountain ranges, waterfalls, grasslands, and even rural villages, offering close encounters with the region's birds and wildlife along the way. All walks are guided by a professional naturalist and an experienced bushman who has lived in this forest region for generations.
