Upon arrival at Matuka Lodge, you will be welcomed by the Lodge manager. Guests enjoy the privacy of the Lodge entirely to themselves, as the manager is housed in a separate residence. The Matuka Lodge experience includes a complimentary full breakfast, made with fresh local produce and prepared by your hosts.

In summer, the Lodge is cool and airy, with a pleasant breeze coming off the trout pond. There is nothing as relaxing as sitting on the deck with a glass of wine, watching the sun set over the lake with the Southern Alps on the horizon.

In winter, the Lodge makes the most of its north-facing orientation to draw as much warmth as possible from the sun. This, combined with full double glazing and more insulation than you might imagine, keeps guests warm and comfortable at night.

Decorated with a mix of antique and contemporary furniture and original artworks, the atmosphere is both elegant and relaxed.

Rooms

All rooms have a patio with a mountain view.
The air-conditioned rooms feature electric blankets, a dressing area and a sitting area. Each room has a private bathroom with a shower and hairdryer. Some rooms also feature a spa bath for two. All rooms have a flat-screen TV with more than 50 satellite channels, including sports and movie channels.

Activities offered

Matuka Lodge, rated 5 stars by Qualmark, is a 5-minute drive from central Twizel. It is a 10-minute drive from Lake Pukaki. The Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre and Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, are 50 minutes away by road.
