À vivre

Even before boarding the sled, one thing strikes us: the energy of these dogs. Barking echoes, eyes meet, bodies stir with an almost contagious impatience. For anyone discovering this world for the first time, the commotion can come as a surprise.

Yet it's worth understanding their history and their place in Nordic culture. For centuries, sled dogs have accompanied the peoples of the far north, used as a means of transport in territories where snow and cold still shape daily life. Much like horses, which for a long time accompanied human travel and labour elsewhere in the world, these dogs are part of an ancient relationship between animal and human.

Today, their role has evolved. They are no longer simply a means of travel, but they continue to express the energy for which they have been selected over generations: to run, to advance, to explore. When not harnessed, they live in their own dedicated spaces, where their overflowing enthusiasm contrasts with the calm they find once set loose on the trails.

It is this transformation that makes the experience so distinctive. After the first moments of excitement, silence takes over again. The dogs find their rhythm, the sled glides gently over the snow, and you move forward at their pace, at the heart of the Lapland wilderness.

Seasons

Our seasonal advice

The ideal period generally runs from December to April, when Lapland offers its snow-covered landscapes and most favourable conditions. The heart of winter reveals a more polar atmosphere, with snow-covered forests and soft light, while March and April bring longer days and often milder temperatures. Whichever period you choose, it is the presence of snow that gives this unique experience its full dimension.
