MPUMALANGA
From Johannesburg airport, you’ll drive to the Mpumalanga region in your own vehicle.
After a first night in a small, characterful hotel, explore the 3rd largest canyon in the world: between the majestic Drakensberg mountains and the clear waters of the Blyde River, before heading on to Kruger National Park.

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
Start by taking on a fully self-drive safari!
Over 2 days, drive through Kruger National Park in your own vehicle, tracking wildlife and the famous Big Five.
It’s in the southern part of the park that you’ll most likely have your best sightings. Don’t stick to the main roads — explore the tracks!
Experience it South African style, staying in “rest camps” for quick and easy access to the park and its wildlife.
Skukuza, Satara, Lower Sabie, Pretoriuskop, to name but a few, all offer an ideal location within the national park.
A genuine change of scenery, with the smell of braai (South African barbecue) guaranteed!

PRIVATE KRUGER RESERVE
To maximise your chances of seeing the Big Five and benefit from the sharp insight of qualified guides, 3 nights in a characterful lodge in a private reserve will be well worth it!
Sabi Sand, Timbavati, Kapama, Thornybush and many others — the private reserves bordering Kruger National Park host only a handful of lodges and vehicles, for a select few!
Exclusivity and close proximity to wildlife are guaranteed here.
On 2 daily safaris, the English-speaking trackers and rangers of your lodge will introduce you to the bush.
Aboard an open 4×4 or on foot, for a different but equally compelling approach.
Unlike national parks, private reserves are allowed off-road driving. You’ll be able to get a little closer to the king of beasts or the elusive leopard — always with respect for the animal!
A typical day in a private reserve:
. A very early wake-up with coffee, tea and biscuits, before setting off for the first safari of the day.
. Return to the lodge mid-morning for breakfast.
. Rest at the lodge or join the optional guided walk offered by your guide at the end of the morning (ages 12 and up).
. A light lunch and a short rest.
. In the mid-afternoon, you’ll set off with your guide for the second safari of the day.
