LAKE KARIBA
You will head to Victoria Falls airfield to board a light aircraft bound for Lake Kariba, in north-eastern Zimbabwe.
An artificial lake created in the early 1960s following the construction of the dam, Lake Kariba offers a striking setting shaped by the Matuzviadonha mountains and drowned trees.
Expect spectacular sunsets, tinting the lake in shades of pink, orange and red!
The lake and Matusadona National Park are a haven for wildlife — Operation Noah, carried out before the valley was flooded, saved thousands of animals from drowning.
For three days, you will stay at a lodge fully renovated in 2024, set at the heart of the magnificent Lake Kariba.
You will head out on flat-bottomed boat safaris to observe elephants, hippos, crocodiles and other iconic species that inhabit the lake’s shores up close. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the thrill of catching the famous tigerfish, Kariba’s legendary game fish.
4×4 safaris offer a land-based perspective, allowing you to explore the bush and spot numerous species, from buffalo to antelope. Sunset cruises also offer spectacular views over the lake, as the sky turns to flaming colour.
For bird enthusiasts, Kariba is a true paradise, with an impressive variety of species to discover on guided walks. Finally, relax at the lodge, surrounded by the serenity of this unique environment.
