The spirit of the journey

The Churchill region, in Manitoba, is best known for polar bear watching. Wapusk National Park undoubtedly offers the highest concentration of polar bears in the area.

Located about 60 km south of Churchill, near the park, the lodge we offer is the ideal place to try to observe and photograph cubs emerging from their winter dens with their mothers. It can, however, only accommodate 8 people.

Experienced guides and agreements with the national park authorities allow approaches to the bears of nearly a hundred metres. Ideal conditions for observing and better understanding the behaviour of this legendary animal.

Other animals such as the Arctic fox, caribou and wolves (on rare occasions!) can also be observed. Not to mention the spectacular northern lights!

More than just a trip, this immersion in polar bear country will allow you, over 11 days, to observe and photograph cubs and their mothers emerging from their dens under the best possible conditions. Only 8 people are present in this observation area.

Winnipeg

Setting out in search of the polar bear without passing through Churchill, a small town of fewer than 1,000 residents on the western shore of Hudson Bay, would almost be a crime. Indeed, in the “polar bear capital of the world”, the white predator wanders calmly through the town's streets as you might at home; it's on its own territory.
Once you've adjusted to the climate (averaging 12°C in summer and -25°C in winter), you can set off in search of Nanuq, the Inuit spirit of the polar bear, king of the tundra. Along Manitoba's 1,400 km of coastline, wolves, caribou and moose will make up most of your encounters in the boreal forest, while beluga whales and the Northern Lights will keep you company over Hudson Bay.
Churchill is the gateway to a world where, at the heart of a territory that remains difficult for humans to tame, you'll witness an environment and wildlife that will stay etched in your memory.

Day 13 – Churchill – Winnipeg
Early in the day, departure for Churchill by plane. Upon arrival, connecting flight to Winnipeg in the afternoon.

Day 14 – Winnipeg – France
During the day, fly to Paris.
