Duo caliente, Cuba salsera

Sample tailor-made journey, fully customisable

Country

Cuba

Suggested duration

8 days / 6 nights

The spirit of the journey

Experience Cuba to the rhythm of its typical Latin dances - Salsa, Mambo, Cha-Cha-Cha - which will carry you from Havana to Trinidad.
And straight away, the senses awaken! Curious travellers will delight in discovering an extraordinary historical and cultural heritage, and a unique way of life.

Salsa, Cuba’s popular music, is meant to be listened to and danced. Once you’ve mastered the steps... sombrero, dile que no, ochenta, enchufla... head onto the floor of the cabarets and casas de la música. The aim is simply to have fun on the same dance floors as Cubans, who appreciate the effort of joining the dance — a synonym for celebration, joy, fun, wellbeing and connection.

So take the time to discover this way of life through a journey combining a visit to the capital, Havana, then Trinidad, with your private French-speaking guide.

This distinctive journey at the heart of Cuba takes in two stops: Havana and Trinidad, a caliente duo of superb colonial buildings weathered by time. But the foundations of Cuban and Caribbean cultural identity are also found in music. Vamos a bailar!

HAVANA
In Havana, an introduction to percussion is included, as well as Cha-cha-cha, mambo, salsa, rumba… Private or group lessons — the choice is yours. The historic city is explored on foot with your private French-speaking guide. Then we invite you to climb aboard a classic American car to drive along the Malecón and discover the modern neighbourhoods. The day ends with a cigar tasting in a private lounge or bar, paired with a glass of amber rum — unless you’d rather try the best mojito in the capital.

You will stay in a historic hotel in the old town, and our advisors have no shortage of suggestions for enjoyable musical evenings.

TRINIDAD
In Trinidad, explore the town on foot with your private French-speaking guide to discover its baroque churches, pastel-coloured houses and patios reminiscent of Andalusian style. You can also go hiking in Topes de Collantes Natural Park, ideal for nature lovers eager to observe its rich endemic fauna and flora.

We will then reserve a table for dinner at our favourite paladar, before heading to the Casa de la Música to fully experience Caribbean nightlife with the locals.

You will stay with a host family, in a colonial-style Casa Particular, where you can share convivial moments with the owners, who are always happy to talk with curious travellers passing through their country.

Trinidad, Ambiance de Cuba

Trinidad

Trinidad has preserved the authenticity of its architecture, which earned its historic center a UNESCO World Heritage listing. The Valle de los Ingenios (“valley of the sugar mills”) offers one of the finest panoramas in the country.
Trinidad also preserves valuable cultural traditions, including significant traces of the sugar industry’s peak in the first half of the 19th century. A horse-drawn carriage ride through the outskirts leads to the viewpoint, with a sweeping view over the famous sugar valley. The colonial center bears the patina of authenticity, even as locals do their best to restore and repaint buildings. The glorious past of this small Caribbean town shows through, both rich and crumbling. It is a journey through time: a few artisans reflect life today, and lunch stands as an allegory for the thousands of enslaved people who toiled in the sugarcane fields for over four centuries.

In summary:
– 3 nights in a hotel in Havana with breakfast
– 3 nights with a host family in Trinidad with breakfast
