Sample tailor-made journey, fully customizable

Country

Equateur

Suggested duration

11 days / 9 nights

The spirit of the journey

A discovery of Ecuador that begins in Quito and continues from the north to the south of the country.

Your private naturalist guide will accompany you throughout your journey, sharing the exuberance and charm of this country through a combined approach to the Andes mountain range.

Your stops will be varied: first the eastern slope of the Andes, including the private Yanacocha reserve, a true haven for birds and biodiversity. In the Cotopaxi region, you will be able to watch the Andean condor in flight and walk along the emerald-colored Quilotoa lagoon. At Chimborazo, you will climb the volcano’s slopes among vicuñas. At Guamote, you will experience the village market where, every Thursday, communities gather to barter their harvests.

You will then have the opportunity to appreciate the many faces of contemporary Ecuador: its people, languages and customs, as well as its landscapes, cuisine and architecture.

Le volcan Cotopaxi

Cotopaxi Volcano National Park, established in 1975, is home to the world’s highest active volcano, reaching 5,897 metres.
It lies 90 km south of Quito. Llamas, wild horses, condors, and Andean wolves roam freely here. Not far from the park entrance lies the vast volcanic plateau of Limpiopungo. A walk along the shores of the lagoon reveals numerous high-altitude bird species of the Ecuadorian páramo, including the remarkable condor, wild llamas, puma, and several deer species.

Not to be missed in Cotopaxi National Park is the José Ribas refuge, perched at 4,800 m, offering an exceptional view of the volcano. From here, the ascent of the volcano can begin.

QUILOTOA LAGOON – CHIMBORAZO VOLCANO
Departure toward the western cordillera along a mountain road to the community of Quilotoa and its emerald lagoon.
You can choose to walk along the shores of the lagoon, on the crater slopes on foot or by kayak, and ride back up by mule.
