Expedition to East Greenland
Groenland Islande
10 days / 9 nights
June to September
Day 1: Reykjavik
Depending on your arrival time, enjoy free time to explore Iceland’s capital at your own pace. In the evening, meet your expedition guides for a welcome dinner, an opportunity to get acquainted and learn about the first stages of your journey.
Day 2: Reykjanes Peninsula — Kulusuk — Tasiilaq
The adventure begins amid the volcanic landscapes of the Reykjanes peninsula, with a private visit to the spectacular Raufarhólshellir lava tunnel, followed by the geothermal phenomena of Seltún.
Later in the day, fly to Kulusuk, in East Greenland, with the first icebergs taking shape beneath the plane.
Continue by helicopter or boat to Tasiilaq, a small, colourful town nestled between fjords and glacial mountains.
First steps into one of Greenland’s most isolated territories, where Arctic nature meets Inuit tradition.
Settle into the hotel and dine facing the mountains that surround Tasiilaq.
Day 3: Tasiilaq
Set out on foot to discover the wild landscapes surrounding Tasiilaq, through the striking Valley of Flowers.
Among granite peaks, small lakes, waterfalls and Arctic flowers, the hike reveals the full beauty of East Greenland.
The afternoon is devoted to exploring Tasiilaq and its small Ammassalik Museum, dedicated to Inuit culture and traditions.
Masks, kayaks, sledges and traditional objects tell the story of this isolated region.
A meeting with a local resident offers a glimpse of everyday life at the heart of the Arctic.
Day 4: Tasiilaq — Sermilik Fjord
Leave Tasiilaq by boat and head out toward the Sermilik Fjord, where the first icebergs appear among mountains and glaciers, with whales sometimes spotted along the way. The journey continues to Tinit, a tiny Inuit village set against the vastness of the ice sheet.
The adventure then continues to Base Camp Greenland, a confidential refuge set in one of the most isolated regions on the planet. After settling in, set off for a first exploration of this pristine wilderness and, conditions permitting, glide by kayak among the icebergs, in the striking silence of the Arctic.
Days 5–7: Sermilik Fjord
From Base Camp Greenland, set out to explore the vastness of the Sermilik Fjord, a true kingdom of ice where immense icebergs drift slowly between mountains and glaciers.
Over the course of these days, navigate by Zodiac among these bluish giants or glide by kayak close to the water, in a silence broken only by the ice and, at times, the appearance of a seal or whale.
On land, hikes and walks lead you across the tundra to glaciers descending from Greenland’s immense ice sheet.
Each evening, return to the comfort of the camp for a warm dinner facing this extraordinary nature. Later in the season, as night gradually returns, the northern lights may even light up the Arctic sky.
Day 8: Sermilik Fjord — Kulusuk
Enjoy one last morning at Base Camp Greenland, with a walk across the tundra before leaving this refuge at the edge of the world.
Depending on conditions, continue on to Kulusuk by boat or helicopter, flying over or skirting one last time the glacial valleys and jagged peaks of East Greenland.
On arrival, walk along the coast, facing icebergs and mountains, before ending the day with a private performance of Greenlandic traditions — songs, drumming and dance.
Day 9: Kulusuk — Reykjavik
For this final day in Greenland, board a boat to a small island for one last adventure amid glacial landscapes.
Accompanied by your guide, walk on the glacier, among ice formations sculpted by the elements, with fjords, mountains and drifting icebergs on the horizon.
Back in Kulusuk, share a farewell lunch before a final look around the village.
In the afternoon, fly to Keflavík, Iceland, where you will spend the night before your journey home.
