Arrival in Manaus, an island of urbanity that rises up like an unexpected mirage in the vast green expanse of the Amazon. Home to two million people, Manaus, born at the turn of the last century thanks to the rubber trade, still bears the vestiges of its former grandeur.
You will spend 2 nights in the city’s finest hotel, facing the majestic Teatro Amazonas, a true symbol of the rubber barons’ opulence. A tour of the city is planned as a fitting introduction to your journey.

A flight to Tefé takes you to the gateway of the Mamirauá Reserve. From there, a fast boat ride brings you to the floating lodge, for an unforgettable experience at the heart of the largest flooded forest in the world. Its main attractions include a wide variety of flora and fauna, such as several monkey species, the black caiman, the river dolphin (boto), and other wild animals.
Guided by excellent naturalists who know the várzea like no one else, visitors will be able to spot and photograph rare animals amid lush landscapes, meet local communities, and capture the beauty of the Amazon and the unique features that only the Mamirauá floodplain can offer.

The journey continues in the Anavilhanas Archipelago, home to some 400 narrow islands carved by the current. Stretching over no less than 90 kilometres along the Rio Negro, which widens to 27 km at this point, it is the largest concentration of river islands on the planet — a truly unique place.
