The spirit of the journey

The Esteros del Ibera bird reserve is located in northeastern Argentina. It is the second-largest network of wetlands in the Americas, an estuary of lagoons and land flooded by the Parana and Uruguay rivers. Here, tourism operators and gauchos combine their expertise to make your stay a memorable experience, in perfect harmony with the environment.

Guided by a team of specialists, your safari excursions take place by canoe or on foot.

THE WILDLIFE
This tropical land, also known as “Mesopotamia”, is home to the second-richest birdlife in Latin America after the Pantanal.
Here you will find a rich and varied wildlife, including caiman, anaconda, capybara, river otters and marsh deer, as well as a wide variety of birds (more than 350 species have made this their home), capybaras, caimans, river wolves, marsh deer...

THE POSADA DE LA LAGUNA
A delightful guesthouse with 6 comfortable rooms, set on the shore of the lagoon. Hospitality, charm and well-being make this peaceful haven a reference point for those who appreciate chic yet understated accommodation.

YOUR ACTIVITIES
- Boat outings
From the posada’s garden jetty, navigating the Corriente channel allows you to discover a picturesque landscape and get a true sense of the typical ecosystem of these marshes, known as embalsados (floating water meadows), while taking in the rich local flora and fauna. Another outing along the Miriñay river reveals a different facet of the lagoon: the landscapes here are different, with an equally rich variety of animal and plant life. Ideal for bird photography safaris.

- Canoeing
The best option for a photo safari, or simply to enjoy the peaceful scenery of the Iberá lagoon at your own pace. In the evening, you can watch the sun disappear over the horizon. Recommended for enthusiasts of waterbird photography.

- Horseback outings
Through the palm groves: for a quiet ride around the Iberá lagoon, through flooded marshes and Caranday palm groves.

In the village of Pellegrini: to discover the gauchos’ way of life.
A ride through the Cambá Trapo marsh, among the palm groves. Typical lunch included.
