The spirit of the journey

This mobile camp safari in Botswana brings together 2 to 7 participants for an authentic expedition through southern Africa’s greatest ecosystems. A rare format, combining the freedom of a private journey with the energy of a small group, with access to areas that mass tourism does not reach.

The journey opens at Victoria Falls, one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before heading into northern Botswana.

Chobe National Park, known for some of the continent’s largest elephant gatherings, and Savuti, a legendary territory for lions and hyenas, form the first stages of a progression toward the heart of the country. The Khwai concession, in a community-run area, offers nights deep in nature in sectors reserved for small groups. The Moremi Reserve, finally, takes you into the Okavango Delta: safaris by 4x4, on foot and by mokoro along the channels.

This safari is also available as a fully private version, with extensions to the Kalahari Desert and the Makgadikgadi Pans, home to one of Africa’s great zebra migrations – a still little-known spectacle, all the more striking for it.

Each camp is set up deep in nature, at sites chosen for their wildlife-viewing quality and seclusion. The small group size ensures total flexibility in safari timing and a close relationship with your guide.

VICTORIA FALLS
Discover the famous Victoria Falls, authentic and majestic, during your day at the falls. During your stay, you can take a helicopter flight over the falls, or watch the sunset on a Zambezi river cruise (optional activities).
One night at a charming lodge.

Les Chutes Victoria

1,700 metres long, 108 metres high, with a flow of over 9,000 m³ of water per second during the rainy season (60,000 bathtubs every second!), and a spray cloud that can reach 400 metres in height, forming a plume visible from nearly 48 km away. What begins as a small stream at its source becomes the largest waterfall in the world. Victoria Falls lives up to every superlative: a striking, captivating spectacle.

During the rainy season, the flow is so powerful that it becomes very difficult — at times impossible — to see the falls themselves, obscured as they are by swirling vapour. At this time of year, it is more rewarding to view them from the Zambian side, where the flow is lower. But wherever you stand during this period, expect a thorough soaking! Ponchos, boots and umbrellas are essential — unless you'd rather end your day wrapped in a towel!

MOBILE CAMP
Your immersion in the bush begins.
You will spend 10 nights under canvas, at private sites as close to nature as possible, for a unique experience. Departure is guaranteed from 2 people, with a maximum of 7 people per group (children under 12 are not accepted).

The mobile camps are set up by the logistics team (with private shower facilities at the back of the tent). Meals are prepared by the chef and their assistant.
All you have to do is enjoy your journey!

MOBILE CAMP: CHOBE RIVER
The adventure begins in Chobe National Park, with the full camp logistics team: cook, camp manager and guide.

Chobe Game Lodge

Safari en bateau sur la rivière Chobe

Given the enormous concentration of elephants in Chobe National Park and along the river of the same name, where hundreds come to drink during the African winter, a boat safari on its waters is an experience to include in any Botswana safari.
At sunrise or sunset, watch crocodiles raise their heads with curiosity or hippos bathing by the dozen. With a bit of luck, you might even see a herd of elephants crossing the river — a relatively chaotic, frantic affair that no mother would wish for!

Renowned for its abundance of elephants and its riverside experiences, Chobe will captivate you with the beauty of its landscapes, its often large concentrations of wildlife – elephants in particular – and its boat safaris. A near-mythical site in Botswana.

La rivière Chobe

The banks of the Chobe River are lush, and the area is renowned for its abundance of elephants — certainly the highest concentration of these magnificent creatures anywhere in the world. Chobe is also known for its immense buffalo herds, its rich birdlife and its exquisite sunsets reflected in the ripples of the river. All of this adds up to a wildlife experience not to be missed.

MOBILE CAMP: SAVUTE
Discover Savute in all its splendour: its marsh and famous channel, known as the “stolen river” because it dried up for several years before flowing again, following an earthquake that caused a slight shift in the land.

Depending on the season, this fertile, green plain is home to large numbers of antelope and hundreds of zebras. Drawn by all this prey, the usual predators will also be present!

Savute

MOBILE CAMP: KHWAI PRIVATE CONCESSION
The logistics team takes down your camp during your last morning safari in Savute, to set it up again in the Khwai region, just northeast of the Moremi Reserve.
Beyond its remarkable landscapes, the Khwai region is especially notable for its many elephants, lions and African wild dogs.

Water levels permitting, you can take a mokoro ride – a traditional African canoe carved from a tree trunk – to observe wildlife along the water.

Safari en mokoro

Take your time to experience the Okavango Delta aboard a mokoro, a slender dugout canoe around 6 metres long, carved from an ebony or sausage tree trunk.
As your poler handles the pole used to propel and steer the craft, let yourself glide gently through the water and observe the wildlife, largely undisturbed by your silent presence.

MOBILE CAMP: MOREMI RESERVE – XAKANAXA
Located in the easternmost part of the Okavango Delta, the Moremi Reserve is home to substantial wildlife: lechwe (antelope adapted to wetlands) and wary buffalo scatter across the floodplains behind mopane and acacia woodlands sheltering leopards, lions and other predators. Dead trees cast their silhouettes over savannahs teeming with elephants, a stone’s throw from papyrus-choked channels that extend beyond the Okavango Delta.

At the end of this safari, you will take a light aircraft to Maun for one last look at these remarkable landscapes. You can also extend your stay with a few additional nights at a comfortable lodge in the Delta, or visit another region such as the Makgadikgadi Pans or the Central Kalahari.

Réserve de Moremi

The Okavango is a unique ecosystem, a river delta set in the middle of the largest continuous stretch of sand in the world — the Kalahari Basin. An oasis in an otherwise arid and inhospitable landscape, the Okavango Delta is home to an incredible diversity of animals and birds.

Moremi Game Reserve lies in the eastern corner of the Okavango Delta. One of the finest and most diverse of all Africa's major reserves, it protects both enormous concentrations of wildlife and remarkable landscapes. The reserve includes both seasonally flooded areas such as Xakanaxa and drier areas such as Khwai.
Throughout your safaris, we will work to reveal some of the secrets of this dynamic ecosystem.
