RAFTING ON THE RIO PACUARE
The first night is spent in the capital, San José, at a charming small hotel in the historic centre, as the departure for the Rio Pacuare the next day is an early one.
Departure at 6am from the hotel with the rafting team to reach the put-in point for the descent of the Rio Pacuare. Off you go for 2 hours of descent. The start of the run allows everyone to adjust and prepare for the rapids ahead, gradually picking up rafting techniques and sensations. The descent is beautiful throughout, and the arrival at the lodge is simply stunning.
After your 2-night stay, it’s time to continue the run — the descent picks up pace, becoming more sporty. It’s punctuated by stops to enjoy towering waterfalls.

ARENAL VOLCANO
Pick up your rental vehicle and set off for Arenal. For 3,000 years this mountain lay dormant (or nearly so), until 29 July 1968 at 7:30am, when the volcano erupted. The last major eruptions occurred in the late 1970s, forming a second cone, and again in 1993. Arenal volcano (1,633 m) stands majestically on the shores of the lake. You’ll stay here for 3 nights.
Treetop hike.
Ride an open-air cable car up to a viewing area with sweeping views over the volcano and Lake Arenal. From there, you’ll begin descending via ziplines running across canyons and treetops. The longest stretches 760 metres, the highest reaches 200 metres.
Soak in the hot springs
After an adrenaline-filled day, it’s time to unwind. Arenal has hot springs at 38°C, perfect for relaxing at the end of the day. After dark, enjoy a small natural haven where dinner is served.
Hanging bridges hike.
Along the trails and hanging bridges, you’ll take in the stunning natural setting and the area’s rich biodiversity. A route of at least 1,800 metres (3,200 metres in its longer version) with 9 fixed bridges and 6 hanging bridges, rising between 8 and 83 metres high — a fine walk through the treetops!
