The spirit of the journey

A travelling journey along the routes from the Pacific to the Andes, where each day brings a new encounter with Peru's greatest sites — the legendary Nazca Lines, Machu Picchu, the Inca Trail… all the way to the Amazon jungle, a refuge for naturalists.

The first leg of your road trip along the Pan-American Highway. From Lima, you head to the dunes of Paracas, then the Nazca desert, which you will fly over. The road continues through the pre-Andes to Arequipa, a colonial city set among volcanoes, the starting point for your entry into the deep Colca canyon, where condors have found their ideal refuge. And the higher you climb, the deeper you move into the heart of the Andes, until you reach Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. There, you will spend a few days on an isolated private island, far from the crowds of tourists, where you can choose between paddling on the lake or hiking its trails.

But there are still kilometers of road ahead through the Altiplano to reach the cities of gold, including the famous peak of Machu Picchu. The city of Cuzco, the “Inca navel,” will be your base for a few days of excursions in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, during which you will explore Andean villages, archaeological sites, agricultural terraces, the Maras salt pans, and then Machu Picchu.

Strong emotions, striking encounters and highly varied stops, with lofty peaks and vivid colors, to shape the journey you have been dreaming of in the land of the Cities of Gold.

Arrival in Lima, where you will spend the night in the residential district of Miraflores.
Before leaving the capital, you will have a morning to visit the historic center.

With your driver, you will leave Lima in the afternoon to join, by 4×4, the Pan-American Highway along the Pacific coast heading south.
Between the Pacific Ocean and the Nazca desert, this road is interrupted by a few small fertile valleys.
2-night stay in Paracas, a port town at the heart of a desert area with vast untouched beaches dotted with small oases and fishing villages.

From Paracas, you will head to Ica, a small seaside town with a small airfield. You will board a light aircraft to fly over the dunes to the Nazca desert, observing from the air the famous geometric lines and figures drawn in the desert by ancient Nazca civilizations.

After the flight, you will take refuge in the small oasis of Huacachina for a 4×4 excursion over the dunes of the Tablazo de Ica, from Huacachina toward the Paracas reserve. An unusual excursion, striking among the dunes, far from the crowds of tourists.

Survol des lignes de Nazca

Fly over the Nazca Lines aboard small propeller planes to take in this mystery from ancient times. Listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1994, the Nazca Lines rank among the most enigmatic of human achievements. The route crosses the vast desert plain where, over more than a thousand years, people traced straight lines and geometric, anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures stretching several kilometres in length. In their size, number, diversity and extent (more than 75,000 hectares), the Nazca geoglyphs have no equivalent anywhere in the world. The extreme aridity of the climate has allowed them to be remarkably well preserved. Archaeologists are still debating the meaning behind these lines.
The Nazca civilization left us not only its famous giant lines, traced using stones, but also pyramids, such as the one at the ceremonial site of Cahuachi.

In the morning, a boat excursion to the Ballestas Islands, home to colonies of marine animals (sea lions, pelicans, albatrosses, dolphins…).
Return along the Pan-American Highway to Lima airport. Flight to Arequipa.

Arequipa, the “white city” built entirely of volcanic stone. At the heart of a sunny, volcanic region with rich soil, Arequipa is a superb colonial city home to many treasures, including the Santa Catalina convent.
Stroll through this city where life is pleasant.
You will stay at a small modern hotel located in the historic center, allowing you to wander on foot through this city where life is pleasant.

Sol y Luna

At 2,800 metres altitude, the colours are vivid: the blue of the sky, the red of the earth, and an endless mosaic of wildflowers growing in abundance. Inspired by this luminous setting, Sol & Luna celebrates the beauty of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The architecture blends avant-garde design with a primitive spirit; clay walls display modern works alongside traditional Peruvian art, while stones, beams and bricks drawn from the valley find their natural place throughout. The delicious cuisine likewise draws on local gastronomy, giving it a contemporary touch. Located close to the archaeological sites, Sol & Luna opens a door onto this vanished civilisation.

Machu Picchu

Its name resonates: Machu Picchu, an alluring sacred city regarded by some as one of the seven new wonders of the world, stands as the most majestic testament to Inca civilization. First glimpsed from the Inca Trail, the complex sits on a granite ridge overlooking the Sacred Valley, itself at the foot of the mountain of the same name (Machu Picchu meaning “old mountain” in Quechua). This extraordinary site, composed of impressive stone structures such as the Intihuatana solar clock and the Temple of the Three Windows, was built in perfect harmony with its natural surroundings.
