ELLA
Both picturesque and pleasant, set between mountains and tea plantations, Ella is an essential stop for those fond of fine walks. From the top of the mountain, the panoramas are breathtaking! It was from this very summit that the Scottish tea baron, Sir Thomas Lipton, once oversaw his booming empire.
HERITANCE TEA FACTORY
Set in a rather unusual location, in the middle of tea plantations.
In this former tea factory you can learn about tea picking and take the opportunity to walk through the plantations.
HORTON PLAINS
Listed as a Unesco World Heritage site, this is the only park in Sri Lanka where you can go on walking safaris.
For a better view over the valley and its tea plantations, opt for a peaceful hike through the mountain. When the weather clears, the mountain mist lifts and the Indian Ocean can be seen 80 km to the south.
KANDY
The city of Kandy is considered the cultural capital of Sri Lanka and one of the most important sites of Buddhism worldwide. The Temple of the Tooth houses one of Buddhism’s most venerated relics: the tooth of the Buddha.
A tooth closely guarded, like a treasure within a fortress.
KNUCKLES
Hiking through rice paddies, forests, spice plantations and tea fields remains the best way to discover this massif. Flora and fauna here are extremely diverse. Its name, “Knuckles”, simply refers to the mountain’s five peaks, which resemble the fingers of a hand and can be seen from Kandy.
