10 days / 8 nights
Arrival in the Yucatan
Cancun is the obligatory arrival airport, but we won’t linger there. Your rental vehicle is ready, and the road leads to Valladolid, a colonial village just an hour’s drive from Cancun. You’ll spend 2 nights there. Your accommodation sits on a pleasant square surrounded by beautifully restored buildings, arcades and colour! Ochre, yellow, pink, blue, green…
A secret outing
We take advantage of the time difference to get up early and head to Rios Lagartos, a nature reserve home to over 300 bird species, particularly pink flamingos.
Without even a detour, we stop at the Ek Balam site, located 20 minutes north of Valladolid. According to experts, Ek Balam represents a precious source of carved inscriptions and a unique collection of ornamental pieces from Mayan civilisation. From the visitor centre, where you’re introduced to the Mayan calendar through month symbols set into the ground, you reach the site itself via a short walk through the forest.

Chichén Itzá
An early morning departure toward Chichén Itzá, a must-see and likely the most visited site for its spectacular pyramids. Rest assured, you’ll have the site to yourselves at opening time. The crowds arrive from the Caribbean coast mid-morning.
After the visit, it’s time to enjoy a refreshing swim in a cenote before heading to your hacienda.
Chichen Itza, Mexique
The owners welcome you to this magnificent 17th-century hacienda, where you’ll stay for 3 nights. The restoration of the buildings reveals the charm of a history-laden past.

Tulum
To end on a gentle note, 4 days in Tulum, a postcard setting of white sand and turquoise sea where sunrise over the Caribbean Sea is simply captivating. You’ll love this relaxed, privileged spot, which is also a perfect base for exploring the peninsula’s many Mayan treasures — Coba — or natural wonders like the Sian Ka’an reserve and the Bacalar lagoons.

Yucatecan flavours
The Yucatan’s culinary signature is undoubtedly one of the richest and most varied in the whole country: cochinita and pollo pibil, cooked underground in banana leaves with a sauce of orange juice, achiote and coriander leaves; sopa de lima flavoured with lime juice, chicken and fried tortillas… And the chile habanero, the hottest in the country.
