The spirit of the journey

A memorable journey at the heart of the Africa we love. Untouched, raw land. Landscapes of striking beauty and endless curves.
Wildlife in its purest form. Here, the law of the strongest prevails, and you will have a front-row seat to witness it.
This little-visited country is home to prolific wildlife and counts among its ranks some of the most passionate guides in the world.

Your journey begins at one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, the striking Victoria Falls. Amid spray and rainbows, hear the roar of its endless waters. On foot or by helicopter, the power of this place will not leave you unmoved.

Fly low over the country and discover the wild, untouched beauty of Zimbabwe.
On arrival on the shores of Lake Kariba, a true haven of peace, the stress of daily life gradually fades away. Glide across its timeless waters and set off to discover Africa’s wildlife.

A paradise for walking and canoe safaris, a new experience awaits you at your final stop: Mana Pools National Park. Secluded in wild nature, take in the sounds of the bush, both unsettling and exhilarating. Settle in and listen to the silence, free of all modern pollution, watch elephants bathing, and witness unforgettable African sunsets.

VICTORIA FALLS
Your first steps in Zimbabwe will be at Victoria Falls, set amid preserved wilderness. Wander freely along the paths and numerous viewpoints of the park, or visit the falls accompanied by a guide.

Your 2-night stay in a charming lodge will leave you time to explore a wide range of activities, such as a helicopter flight, a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, or dinner aboard the “steam train” overlooking the falls. For the more adventurous, rafting, bungee jumping and zip-lining are also on offer.

LAKE KARIBA
Today, you will fly to Lake Kariba, the largest man-made body of water in the world.
The lake is home to Nile crocodiles, which swim among the dead trees.

To the south of the lake, Matusadona National Park, covering 1,350 km², is one of the last sanctuaries for black rhinoceros, and is also home to the other members of the “Big Five”.

You will spend 2 nights at Bumi Hills, an exceptional place. Ideal for relaxation and observing the park’s many inhabitants, it is not unusual to see elephants coming to drink at the edge of Lake Kariba below. Completely secluded within a private concession, you will encounter no other vehicles and will enjoy exclusive safaris for optimal wildlife viewing. Experienced guides will bring the Zambezi to life through boat safaris, sunset cruises, as well as walking and 4×4 safaris, by day and by night.

Bumi Hills Safari Lodge

AT THE HEART OF MANA POOLS
Fly over Matusadona National Park before arriving by light aircraft at Mana Pools, the most unexpected park in southern Africa. Wild and little visited, it is likely the best place in Zimbabwe — if not in southern Africa — to observe the very rare African wild dogs.

Your first two nights at Mana Pools will be spent at Kanga Camp, within a private, secluded concession inside the park, a few kilometres from the Zambezi River. Here, there are no boat safaris, only walking and 4×4 safaris, led by experienced guides who will share their knowledge and passion with you.

You will stay near “Kanga Pan”, the only water source in the area, where you can observe a multitude of animals, particularly during the dry season.

As Kanga Camp lies within a private concession, you will also enjoy greater flexibility with your activities, choosing to head out on safari for the morning or for the full day.

A remarkable activity is also available at this camp: the “armchair safari”. Settle into a comfortable chair on the deck and watch the procession of animals coming to drink at the water hole — a unique safari from your seat, or even from the dining table.

MANA POOLS NATIONAL PARK, ON THE BANKS OF THE ZAMBEZI
Your exploration of Mana Pools continues with two further nights in the park, this time on the banks of the Zambezi — a different experience altogether to round out this authentic, unforgettable journey.
Breathtaking landscapes among the most beautiful in Africa, lush vegetation, and abundant, diverse wildlife bring this journey to a fitting close.

You will stay at a charming Bivouac camp, set on the banks of the Zambezi. This part-mobile, part-permanent tented camp offers the experience of safaris of old. Like an expedition, close to nature, your senses will be heightened.

You will set off to encounter wildlife by canoe. Without a sound, drifting with the current, paddle towards crocodiles, hippopotamuses, and elephants — a different approach offering ever-unique emotions.
4×4 and walking safaris are also available and are excellent in this part of the park.

If you would prefer a little more comfort, we suggest staying at Nyamatusi Camp, also ideally located on the banks of the Zambezi with sweeping views over the river. This environmentally responsible eco-lodge offers a cosy, understated atmosphere in an enchanting setting.

Located within the Nyamatusi Wilderness concession, it is among the most secluded lodges in Zimbabwe, set in landscapes once again untouched and far from human presence. Wildlife here is highly diverse and abundant — don’t forget your binoculars to observe the many animals roaming near the camp.

Walking safaris are a true institution at this camp, led by experienced guides with a thorough understanding of animal behaviour.

Nyamatusi Camp
