Due to the sheer number of birds present on its territory, Cristalino Lodge has made it a point of pride to offer the best possible experience to seasoned birdwatchers as well as more novice observers. Thanks to its expert guides, Cristalino Lodge offers full immersion to all those seeking to familiarise themselves with the songs and colours of birds from the southern Amazon.

During the dry season, large numbers of birds come to drink at the few remaining water points, making it easier to observe rare bird species that are otherwise difficult to spot. These include members of the Thamnophilidae, Pipridae, Dendrocolaptidae and Tinamidae families. These sites are reserved for birdwatchers, as absolute silence is required during visits, which often prove well worth it.

Visit to Garcia D'Ávila Castle

The country's only medieval castle

Cultural visit of the ruins of the country's only medieval castle, built by the Garcia d'Ávila family. The clan's patriarch, Garcia d'Ávila, served as treasurer to Tomé de Sousa, the first governor-general of Brazil, who landed in Bahia in 1549 to found the city of Salvador de Bahia. Construction of the castle began in 1551 and was completed in 1624.
