Day 1 — HELSINKI, FINLAND
Your adventure begins with an overnight stay in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
Day 2 — EMBARKATION IN MURMANSK
From Helsinki, a charter flight takes you to Murmansk, Russia, where you will board your vessel for the journey to the North Pole and get acquainted with the 50 Years of Victory, the longest and most powerful icebreaker in the world.
Days 3 to 6 — HEADING NORTH INTO THE ARCTIC OCEAN
Watching the ship cut through the Arctic ice cap is a sight you won’t forget, made even more memorable by a helicopter excursion offering aerial views of the vessel and the vastness of the Arctic Ocean. Expect the days and hours to be subject to changing navigation conditions at this latitude. The crossing from Murmansk to the North Pole can take anywhere from 5 to 8 days. This means you will have plenty of time to get to know your fellow travellers, watch the horizon, have a drink at the bar, and take a dip in the ship’s pool.
Day 7 — 90° NORTH
The anticipation of the previous days reaches its peak as you reach the North Pole! Many passengers are overcome with emotion, while others are in a festive, celebratory mood. Take photos, raise the flag, and enjoy the moment! Add a dazzling finishing touch to this achievement by rising into the air in a hot-air balloon to commemorate the occasion. Later, everyone will enjoy raising a glass of champagne for a toast and sharing a barbecue on the ice.
Day 8 — HEADING SOUTH THROUGH THE ARCTIC OCEAN
You can now sit back and relax — everything from here on is a bonus! The rest of the journey will bring even more extraordinary memories. The further south we go, the better your chances of spotting polar bears hunting seals.
Days 9 and 10 — FRANZ JOSEF LAND
This part of the Arctic Ocean is so remote that Franz Josef Land was discovered after Antarctica. It is the northernmost archipelago in Eurasia, lying entirely within the Arctic Circle. Here you can visit historic sites such as Cape Flora, on Northbrook Island, home to buildings and ruins left behind by three ill-fated Arctic expeditions. We may spot walruses and polar bears on these islands, which you will discover during Zodiac excursions and helicopter flights.
Days 11 and 12 — AT SEA
Heading south, at sea.
Day 13 — DISEMBARKATION IN MURMANSK
Returning to Murmansk, Russia’s northernmost city, marks the end of the voyage; it will be time to say farewell to the 50 Years of Victory. You will be transferred to the airport for your charter flight to Helsinki, Finland, where you will enjoy one last evening with your new travel companions.
Day 14 — HELSINKI, FINLAND
