Daintree and Cape Tribulation meet geographically to form the rainforest of the Daintree Cape Tribulation National Park. The village of Cape Tribulation is tiny, but the rainforest and its accommodation stretch across a far larger territory. The rainforest is over 130 million years old; nothing has gotten the better of it — not abrupt climate shifts, not volcanic activity and tectonic plate movements, not even cyclones. Dense and striking, it holds rare plant and animal species found nowhere else in Australia, which is why it is listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site.
The black and blue “Ulysses” butterfly is emblematic of the forest. Rivers run through it, their relatively mild water temperatures making ideal habitat for crocodiles.
The beaches are striking in their vastness and near-desert character, facing the Great Barrier Reef... You will likely fall for the dense, lush jungle vegetation meeting the sand.
