It is always the man who invites. With a look. He leads his partner into the whirl of the dance, always counter-clockwise. A gesture, a glance, and the audience's heart skips a beat. Tango carries within it all the pride of the Argentine people.
Tango was born in the late 19th century in the immigrant quarters of Buenos Aires around 1880; its golden age in the 1930s is embodied by Carlos Gardel, through to the contemporary tango renewed by the great composer Piazzolla.
This evening is a genuine sensory experience. Whether at the legendary Café de los Angelitos or the Rojo Tango cabaret at the Faena Hotel, the evening begins with a tasting of flavourful traditional dishes. Then the lights dim, the curtain rises, the rhythm builds, and tango fever takes hold.
