Kenya
Laikipia
The main space is built entirely from natural materials, with stone walls, polished floors and traditional thatched roofs.
The decor is rustic yet warm, with staff always attentive to detail.
A bar, a communal dining table (private meals are also available) and comfortable sofas welcome guests. By the pool, a second lounge and dining area form an ideal spot for observing the surrounding nature.
As for the food, the chef takes great pleasure in offering fresh, local produce, straight from the vegetable garden. Bread is kneaded fresh every day, and the menu is both flavourful and inventive!
The lodge welcomes children of all ages, with introductions to the environment and local culture through fun “bush school” activities:
. educational safaris focused on wildlife conservation,
. workshops on the importance of water,
. traditional sporting activities (jumping, racing, etc.),
. culinary adventures with the chef...
The curiosity and thirst for learning of younger guests will no doubt be well satisfied!
The cottages, built of stone, wood, thatch, and canvas, are equipped with 24-hour (solar) electricity for lighting and hot water, flush toilets, and a bathroom with a shower.
A peaceful setting, combining all the necessary comfort without losing the magic of these wild spaces.
The lodge has around ten rooms, keeping intimacy and service consistent throughout your stay. These include:
. four double Bandas with bathroom and river view
. a Rondavel, a charming stone cottage accommodating three people, perfect for small families
. a Hobbit House dedicated to groups of friends or families, with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and 2 children’s beds on the mezzanine
. a more exclusive River cottage with its own private dining room and an outdoor bathroom.
The spa welcomes guests in a courtyard adorned with sculptures, a tranquil water feature, and fragrant flowers.
The treatments are botanically inspired, and you can choose from a wide range of experiences, including a Rasul, a herbal bath, and traditional massages.
Beyond day and night 4x4 safaris, El Karama Lodge also offers a wealth of complementary activities such as multi-hour walking safaris in the bush, horseback outings, camping under the stars, meetings with local communities, and river fishing...
The most adventurous can treat themselves to a helicopter excursion to approach Mount Kenya, the Great Rift region with its lakes, and Kenya’s northern territories.
