Day 1: Keflavik
Meet on arrival of Icelandair flights (or others, depending on availability), around 4 pm local time, and welcome by your guide. Transfer to your hotel in downtown Reykjavik and introduction to the trip, the volcanoes and the Northern Lights by our guide. Dinner at a restaurant in the city center. Iceland's geographic location, together with the autumn months, is favorable for Northern Lights sightings.
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Fagradalsfjall and the Blue Lagoon
Around 8 am, departure by minibus to the active volcano for a hike with a packed lunch (to be carried in a backpack). Approximately 3.5-4 hours of walking round trip, plus free time on site. The whole day will be devoted to this. In the late afternoon, a swim at the nearby Blue Lagoon. Evening at a Viking restaurant in a local setting!
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Lava tunnel and the Golden Circle
Morning visit to the lava tunnel at Raufarholshellir, followed by exploration of the Golden Circle, made up of Thingvellir, site of the world's oldest parliament, Geysir, the world-famous geyser, and the particularly impressive Gullfoss falls.
Dinner in Eyrarbakki to sample Icelandic langoustines. On the way back, we scan the sky in search of the Northern Lights dancing overhead.
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Fagradalsfjall
In the morning, option of an optional helicopter flight over the volcanic zone (to be booked in advance, subject to availability), or an optional excursion in Reykjavik Bay for whale watching...and the scenery!
Lunch in the capital. In the mid-afternoon, a second excursion to the volcano to enjoy different light.
Dinner as a packed meal on site.
Return to Reykjavik and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Return flights
Flights to Europe depart early in the morning, arriving in the late morning or afternoon.

Seasons

Our seasonal advice

Should the authorities close access to Fagradalsfjall for safety reasons, or should the volcano's activity cease, we cannot be held responsible and will offer alternative activities instead. The Northern Lights occur every night with varying intensity. We will monitor their occurrence and may add night excursions accordingly. However, if the sky is overcast, these phenomena cannot be seen. No refund can be claimed.
