À vivre

The Fernando de Noronha Archipelago is one of Brazil’s most remarkable natural sites.
The peaks of the South Atlantic submarine ridge form the Fernando de Noronha archipelago and the Rocas Atoll, off the Brazilian coast. They account for a significant share of the South Atlantic’s island landmass, and their nutrient-rich waters serve as critical breeding and feeding grounds for tuna, sharks, sea turtles and marine mammals. These islands host the largest concentration of tropical seabirds in the western Atlantic Ocean. Golfinhos Bay is home to an exceptional resident population of dolphins, and at low tide, the Rocas Atoll reveals a striking landscape of lagoons and tide pools teeming with fish.

This former Brazilian military base, 520 km off the coast of Recife, now stands as a model of environmental preservation. With its untouched wilderness, fine sand beaches and remarkable underwater scenery, it will captivate nature lovers. The island is a sanctuary for sea turtles and dolphins. Made up of 21 islands, Fernando de Noronha is ideal for diving, surfing, snorkelling, hiking and horseback riding.

Its beaches rank among the most beautiful in Brazil, and the environment is protected through strict, controlled visitor numbers.
