Botswana
Delta Okavango
Nestled in a riverine forest, the main area, which includes a lounge and dining room covered by canvas, is built on slightly raised wooden decks overlooking a shallow lagoon of the Gomoti River. Weather permitting, meals are served outside, in the shade or under the stars, or under the canvas of the common areas, at one large communal table.
Outside, white sand paths guide you from the common areas to the campfire.
The ten spacious tents are raised on wooden decks and decorated in a classic safari style, with clean canvas lines, crisp white linen and other earthy tones.
There are ten luxury tents, including two family units that can accommodate four people. The tents stand on wooden decks overlooking the Gomoti River, which only flows seasonally.
Each room has a shaded veranda at the front which, together with floor-to-ceiling mesh sides, offers unobstructed views over the river and surrounding bush. The en-suite bathrooms feature twin basins and both indoor and outdoor showers, and there is electricity for charging devices.
Activities on offer include day and night 4x4 safaris, walking safaris with an armed guide, and mokoro excursions.
Night safaris give you the chance to observe nocturnal wildlife and watch the big cats stir into action.
The Okavango is worth visiting at any time of year, but it's in winter (May to August) that you stand the best chance of being out on the water, not to mention cooler temperatures.
