The Cordillera Blanca raises its legendary peaks across central Peru, north of the capital. Stretching 180 km in length and just 30 km wide, it is the longest tropical mountain range in the world: more than 700 glaciers, deep quebradas and superb emerald mountain lakes set within a wild landscape make it a true haven for trekking and mountaineering enthusiasts. Huascarán, at 6,768 metres, is Peru's highest peak.
