In Putre, the following activities are worth noting:
- the Las Vicuñas National Reserve: located south of Lauca National Park, along the Bolivian border, it is home to vicuñas, armadillos, guinea pigs, rheas, suris... It also contains archaeological remains;
- the Salar de Surire Natural Monument: located on the Altiplano at 4,250 meters above sea level, it protects the high-altitude ecosystem and salt flats characteristic of this Andean region, formed by the evaporation of groundwater that leaves salt on the surface. This habitat is a prime refuge for the Andean flamingo, the Chilean flamingo and James's flamingo. This salar is remarkable for its immaculate expanse and for the contrast between the white salt and snow-capped peaks against the blue of the high-altitude lagoons;
- Lake Chungará: one of the highest lakes in the world at 4,517 meters above sea level, surrounded by snow-capped peaks such as Payachata, a local volcanic complex;
- Laguna de Cotacotani: a cluster of lagoons set within a strikingly beautiful volcanic lava field;
- Las Cuevas: water surfaces here at 31°C, where you can witness the natural spectacle of geysers originating from underground volcanic activity;
- the cave area of the village of Parinacota: a small pre-Columbian village with fewer than 100 inhabitants;
- Cerro Milagro: rising southeast of Putre and reached via a roughly 1-hour walk with a 300-meter elevation gain. From its summit, a sweeping panoramic view unfolds, in the subtle colors typical of mineral landscapes.
