Breathe deeply on a mountain hike or nature trail! The Eastern Townships offer numerous outdoor hiking options, with trails — short or long — suited to every level. Some trails run through one of four national parks — Mont-Mégantic, Frontenac, Mont-Orford and Yamaska — where you'll also find plenty of other outdoor activities such as camping, kayaking and canoeing. The Sommets route, one of the region's three scenic circuits, provides access to the highest peaks in this part of Quebec.
You can also travel the length of the Townships by bike. The region boasts no fewer than 365 km of cycling trails — some along former railway lines, others along country roads — crossing landscapes of rolling hills dotted with lakes, farms, vineyards and villages.
The Eastern Townships are also the birthplace of winemaking in Quebec: with its two wine routes, the region produces over 60% of Quebec's wine output.
Beyond the many accommodation options ranging from simple guesthouses to full-service establishments, the Eastern Townships also offer unusual places to spend the night. Whether in a hammock tent, a Troglo (a partly underground house inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's Bilbo the Hobbit) or a Zoobox (a loft in the heart of nature), rest assured that by day or night, your stay in the region will be memorable!
