À vivre

Nicknamed the “sultanate of the sea”, Oman is as much a geological treasure as an underwater paradise.
Its warm, clear waters draw an exceptional array of tropical marine life, and its coastal canyons plunge into the sea to reveal spectacular reefs where hard and soft corals coexist in harmony. Still little frequented, these sites hold remarkable biodiversity, with hundreds of fish species and a wide variety of colourful corals.

Diving in Oman divides into three main regions:

- Muscat and the Daymaniyat Islands: around twenty sites accessible year-round. Here you may encounter red-toothed triggerfish, barracudas, giant rays, scorpionfish, seahorses, honeycomb moray eels, leopard sharks and, in summer, the majestic whale shark. More than 85 coral species have been recorded here. Best visibility from April to December; water temperature between 20°C and 30°C.

- Dhofar, in the south of the country, reveals still-untouched seabeds, best explored from October to April, outside the monsoon period.

- The Musandam Peninsula, in the north, offers spectacular dives with gorgonian fans, grey reef sharks, dolphins, whales in February, as well as a multitude of reef species: clownfish, nudibranchs, parrotfish, and more.
